basement update mid-February 2013

OK, so it's been 20 months since the flood.
We just wanted to make sure that nothing was going to flood again, so we waited on the basement.

But now we are deciding we either need our full house to live in or need to sell our full house and move to a new one, so Dustin has been doing a lot of work in the basement on weekends and in evenings. He has gotten us up to the point now where we can paint! This is where I get to help a little.
I picked out some colors for the basement on Friday night last weekend, and Saturday, he and I went to town on painting the 2 bedrooms, landing, family room, and hallway to bathroom! I chose 'Flannel Pajamas' for one bedroom, 'Moonshine' for the other bedroom, and 'Llama Brown' for the family room, hallway, and landing areas.

In all honesty, the Flannel Pajamas color was grey, in the grey section, and looked grey at the store. After 2 coats on the wall, dried, and in a dimmer basement, it looks a lot more purple than I intended.....oops!!! :) I think I can live with it!

Moonshine looked like a light butter yellow on the card, and looks even more deliciously like butter on the wall. Very satisfying.

Llama Brown looked like a flexible band-aid once we got a lot up on the walls to me, and like pantyhose to Dustin. It's the only stuff that still needs a second coat, so it has potential to look a little better!

We left the boys to take care of themselves upstairs.........
not really. They went to Grandma & Papa's house for a while after breakfast. They got to go check out a bunch of campers, then take a nap at Grandma's house!

We started painting about 10:30. Dustin put up tape and I did everything in the grey bedroom. He finished taping by then, so he did the rolling and I did edges/corners, along with some laundry!

We finished in time to go get the boys from Grandma's right after nap, and head to the Minot High hockey game at about 4:30.

Taping master.
Nice and tall, no need for a ladder, and major attention to detail and perfection!

Yellow room, ready for paint!

Grey room, one coat down!

Yellow room, almost done with one coat!
We both had headphones in with our own choice of music. It was a little like heaven for a few hours!

Grey room again!

Marby, dying to get in on some painting action, creeping on us from the hallway.

Yellow room, partly done!

Marby, inspecting some tools and painting supplies in the family room.
I think he was enjoying the day without the boys around!

 Roller-master, too!

Family room, coat 1 down, 1 coat (hopefully) to go!

I would say we had a pretty successful Saturday, as Dustin went downstairs during bathtime on Saturday night, and did the second coat in the yellow bedroom, leaving just a final coat of brown to do. We had to pick up more paint, or I think he would have stayed up until the wee hours to do that, also!

Maybe we can use our basement for real living situations in the not-so-distant future!
