homeless family

Due to the flooding Mouse River in Minot, we are a homeless family! Well, we were taken in by a nice Smith family, but we were forced to evacuate our home on Wednesday by the city. We emptied our basement, and had to shut off electricity and gas. We packed up expecting to be gone a week or two but we still don't know when we'll be able to go back. Time will tell, along with any extra rainfall!

Cleaning out the basement. Dustin JUST finished remodeling this....we had extremely high hopes that we would not have to do this project all over again. So far, it's all dry. I went in today and we were able to turn our power back on. Everything was dry, and we'd not had any looters. Just waiting on the word of when the river level is low enough to allow us back home.

Brody, sneaking a drink of Dane's cup while he's in the other room. :)

Just driving around and making the best of not being at home. Luckily, we are able to stay at Grandma Smith's house! She and Papa Ken were nice enough to take us in, even though their own basement is empty in expectation of possible flooding. So far, it's all dry.

What's up, dog?

Playing a little footbasket.

Brody's first ever bed-time bottle. Tonight marks my first day in 1095 days that I have not been nursing and/or pregnant. To the day, 3 years ago, we found out I was pregnant with Dane. Sniff, sniff, they're growing up so fast.
In other news, I am looking forward to enjoying my first alcoholic drink in 3 years tomorrow. :)

Excitement

Brody has a tooth!!!
This is exciting news at our house, as Brody is 15 days shy of turning 1 year old, and to date, has no teeth. However, yesterday, he was a little fussy, so I felt in his mouth, and sure enough, there on the bottom, a sharp little corner. Tiny as it is, it's a tooth that has finally made its way through!!!
This opens up a whole new world of food for Brody now that he can soon move forward from mush only. Bring on the rest! Just hoping that for as long as it took this first tooth, the rest don't take that long as well. :)

More May!

Brody is 11 months old!!!
(and apparently has no feet!)

And very happy about it!

Once in a while, he gets to pick on Dane for just a few seconds.

I got a bunch of awesome flowers for Mother's Day.....

And the means to plant them! Can't wait for it to quit raining a little bit!

Little boogers wanting to play outside. :)

One of 'em got to get out there, and one had to stay inside.

But he didn't miss any of the action!

Teamwork to play baseball

May: Finally a chance to get outside!

We have been looking forward to being able to play outside sooooo much!!! And finally, it's been nice enough to enjoy time out there almost every day! We've already had a busy month of May, but here are a few details of what we've had time for so far!!!

Hanging out with Granny!

Rough morning at Connor's First Communion and snoring during church. Can really wear ya out!

A wind storm whipped open our brand-new screen door and broke it. But, luckily, we have three in-home repairmen who were able to fix it!

Everybody got in on the action.

Brody was practicing some walking skills, and was able to get some much-needed revenge on his brother. Look out, Dane!

Mowing one spot of the lawn for about 15 minutes. Loved every second of it!

Hunchy....I put about 10 blocks inside the back of his shirt, but I guess he didn't care because he just left them there and continued to play. I thought it was so hilarious, and Andrea tells me this is considered bullying my own child, especially if I was laughing.....which I was! Hopefully his good-sport attitude about this type of thing lasts forever or I'm in trouble!

Spring has sprung?

The boys and I went to Rugby one day so I could get my cheek swabbed for a bone marrow donor drive! We spent the rest of the afternoon at Grandma and Grandpa B's house!

During the first few days of our so-called spring, we got Dane's bike out and hit the pavement, or concrete sidewalk. He loved it!

Dane continues to be helpful. One day, we wanted to take a walk to the grocery store. First we had to install the seatbelts in the wagon. Dane got a couple of screwdrivers and got to work!

Then, a few days later, helped with the laundry.....without even being asked!

What a useful little dude!!!
